This is commonly referred to as a "Picket Holdfast" and even explained in the
FM20-22 titled "Recovery and Field Expedients" Although few folks know about
this and fewer have used it, it does work. You can make them as many picketts
deep as you need them but make sure your forward picketts are the strongest
ones. You can also use parallel rows of picketts too!
