My own personal preference would be to have the gunny sgt. from the movie
Full Metal Jacket ( Lee Ermy {sp ?} ) drive into a shop with a tricked out and lifted
CJ5 and have him motivate " his crew ".
" LISTEN UP YOU MAGGOTS, YOUR JOB IS TO TAKE THIS HERE SISSY
HILLBILLY HILL CLIMBER AND TURN IT INTO A RESPECTABLE M38A1 !!!

CAMO MY RIDE !!

The next episode could be a CJ2A into an M38

He could then take the show on the road by going to various state auctions of government
surplus, taking all the useless piles of military residue into just off the military assembly
line type vehicles.

Give the completed vehicles to legions / vet groups and have them auction them off
with a ready form 97 ( no waiting ) and let the groups keep the proceeds.

Just remember--> CAMO MY RIDE !!!

Sadly, it seems the producers thrive on this controversy. Maybe this
destruction brings viewers and their "target demographic". I guess only a
producer understands the inner workings, but take a look at the American Hot
Rod forum,
http://discovery.infopop.net/1/OpenTopic?a=cfrm&s=6941912904&f=6991906096
hosted by the Discovery Channel folks. Mostly very negative. If collectors
or actual vehicle enthusiasts were what they were after then they would
certainly have changed by now. It just seems to me that tearing stuff apart
for the sake of "bad boy rowdiness" is lacking soul. But maybe I'm just
getting old. :)
