This is easy. Check the voltage across the battery at 2,000 RPM. It should
be around 13.8V. If its 12V, the alternator is not putting out. If its
like 15V, it is putting out too much and will boil your battery to death and
damage electrical stuff.

Anyone know a quick way to check alternator functioning on a M1009?
Can you simply test the output at the batt terminal?

Oh and is the Ammeter fused? (its all of a sudden inop)
