Bill,
One thing to consider when buying those huge new modern drives- if he is
running an older version of Windows before XP, such as Windows
Millenium, Windows 98, etc., the operating system is limited to being
able to manage only a total of 120 Gigs, so when shopping to upgrade an
older system, sometimes a smaller drive is what he may need, or to go to
XP (or Linux, etc.)
