Re: France MV Ban - the future

Nige, with all due respect I must strongly disagree! Our feelings (mostly
from us mongrels in America) about the French government, right or wrong,
are important and they should not be cast aside for the sake of gentlemanly
conduct. The best defense now is a good offense and whatever retaliation
that can be mustered to bring attention and pressure on the French
government must be done and soon!

Politicians the world over are pretty much the same. These bureaucrats are
gutless, self-serving and generally lack the moral convictions of Harlem
street walker. You put a little pressure on them, make them look bad and
threaten their re-election and suddenly you have a dear friend; until its in
their interest to stab you in the back again.

The actions taken against private ownership likely comes from some new
terrorist fears linked to some old liberal prejudices. The fear factor
isn't hard to figure out given radical Muslim element overwhelming French
culture.

The job at hand now, as I see it, is two fold. Put the squeeze on the slimy
politicians on a variety of fronts and then force them to rescind the law.
You've seen what gentle pursuasion got you, I say, no more Mr. Nice Guy!
Fight to win.

Yes, we are all very much concerned over this unfortunate turn of events and
I'm sure we will all do whatever we can when asked. It's just a shame
someone didn't bring it to us sooner, because it's a lot easier to block a
bill than to overturn a law.

Good luck!
