Dayton style - cast center wheels/hubs - centering

I have a couple of trucks (one of them an ex air force service truck)
and two of them have Dayton style cast center wheels - these have split
rims and use wedge clamps to hold the "rims" onto the cast spider style
hubs to form the complete wheel.

Is there a procedure or method to mounting those wheels to minimize
wobble or in-balance? I had a really bad situation on a 2 ton truck and
I ended up removing and reinstalling them in different positions on the
hub - it is better but far from ideal.

The wobble isn't very noticiable when unloaded - but if I put 2-3,000
lbs on the back - the entire truck was shaking at about 50 mph. This
particular truck has a 19,000 lb rear axle so it takes a lot to deflect
the springs. I've got high end Goodyear steel radials on the axle - so
I don't think it is the tires.

Thanks,

Dave
