Hi Mike, I think you are right with your assumptions, though my DUKW
does so little it doesn't get through much.

Yes I was talking about the axle end seals, and as far as I know the
axle end bearings have some grease (as opposed to being 'packed' and
are NOT lubricated by axle oil. Makes sense if you see how often you
are supposed to pull the hubs and renew the grease.
I think you should be able to pull all the diffs without removing the
axle casings (raise the front of the hull?) and yes there is nothing
turning in the transfer case that reaches the oil when running in
marine drive. I take it you have read all the manuals? never was a
vehicle so thoroughly covered, and never did it need it more. regards,
