Was taking a hard look at my '63 M38A1 & noticed that I couldnt find
any brackets or mounting holes for the heavy duty charging system
components (regulator & rectifier). I was looking at my M715's
alternator & refamiliarized myself w/the fact that it only has one input
and one output wire. This fact made me look harder at the M38A1 and I
did notice that there is a single wire that would be in the right spot
for the earlier style two wire alternator input, however it does have a
civilian crimp on terminal wich throws a variable into the theory. What
I am curious about is has anyone seen this style alternator on a M38A1
of this vintage? Did they exist at that time? and, what current rating
should it be?

Thanks again!
