That's interesting because there is another HP figure in the 1956 civy
engine manual that says something like 38 or 40 HP but it has some strang=
e
notation after it, it wasn't SAE though. The gross civy HP was stated as=

160.

remeber 38 SAE hp for some reason. If that's not it, it's not much highe=

Does anyone know what the rated horse power was of the 302 straight six
used in the XM211 6x6's?

I'm still considering buying an XM211.

FYI
During my quest for information I found out that "Patricks" truck parts
sell pistons and bearing for the 302. The parts aren't cheap. But they
also sell high performance pistons and intake manifolds and even camshaft=

s
for the 302. Apparently the 302 straight six was sometimes swapped into=
=3D

smaller 1/2 ton trucks as a high performance upgrade. I just happen to
have a 270 straight six in my '56 GMC pickup. The 302 six has much bigge=

r
valves than the 270, but apparently it is the same block design.
