Hello everyone!
I had a question. I was dringin around the other day and I saw a '63 Jeep
for sale for $1500. It was in pretty good shape, other than fluid dripping
from transfer case, and some rust on frame and underbody. It also had a
compressor for a plow, and the plow attached. I think it is a CJ5 which
would be the civilian counterpart to the M38 and M38A1. WHat is the
difference between the vehicles, and how could I tell if it is the
civilian, or the military model? Oh, it also has a hardtop, hard sides,
and no pintle hitch. Those are some indications that probably answer my
questions, but you never know what people will do to a vehicle. I did
notice that it had the small cutout on the hood side (passenger side) like
the mil. model, and it had the indent towards the back of the body for the
softtop hardware to attach.
Consequently, I am still loving my copy of the Standard Catalog of
Military Vehicles!!! It's a great reference. See ya!!
