I would use DOT 3. I rebuilt the brake system on my CCKW and used DOT 5
because of the corrosion resistance. However I have since been enlightened
by many posts to this list and regret using DOT 5. DOT 3 can absorb water
over the years and cause corrosion but a simple solution to this would be to
change (bleed out) the fluid every few years. If DOT 3 and DOT 5 fluids get
together a reaction occurs and the result is destroyed rubber parts. On my
CCKW with a Vacuum Booster any fluid that might leak past the seal will be
sucked into the engine, Silcone + piston rings = wear.
