Just reinstalled my GPW starter motor, having got the missing pinion end
spring (NOT the Bendix spring):

QUESTION:
Before the spring threw itself, about every 4th time when I pressed the
starter button, I'd get a (loud) kind of "rough" sound as if the starter
was spinning furiously but not connecting.
Now I'm getting that sound about 3 or 4 times for _every_ 1 time it
actually starts...
My best chance of starting is to tap the button sharply and release.
Pressing it and keeping it down is no use, but used to work all the time.
Any ideas? (Cause the sound is really annoying...)
