As others have mentioned, use a radial-type tube and flap of the correct
sizes.

One common problem occurs when the valvestem on the tube does not line up
correctly with the opening in the rim (it must ALSO line up with the opening
in the flap). If the stem is bent over due to misalignment, it puts a
stressed fold in the tube and can cause an early failure of the tube. It
might also cause a metal valve stem reinforcement to wear through the tube.
So, ALWAYS make sure you have the right tire/tube/flap combination.

And, as others have suggested, have the tires pressured-up by a professional,
preferably inside a safety cage, just in case the split ring or wheel is
damaged, or if the split ring doesn't seat properly when airing up the tire.
It doesn't happen very often, but if a split ring blows off, it can do a LOT
of damage to living things.
