Gary has it right. Personally I use a clamp-on inflator with about 10 feet
of hose between the clamp-on and the valve controling the air flow. I also
wrap a loose loop
of 1 inch chain through the cut outs in the at the 3:00 o'clock and 9:00
o'clock position relative to the valve stem for safety. The trick is, be
sure the split ring is correctly seated in its groove on the rim.
Not long ago, next town over, a man just 20 years old had the top of his
head taken off by a split ring. BE CAREFUL:
