A friend of mine has a 1008 that belonged to a Navy EOD unit, and
the only mods were hazmat placards and a wooden "bedliner". It is
interesting because it has a list of all the places it has been on
the side, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Spain, Turkey, and a few
other places. I belive this truck is also for sale if anyone is
interested.( I dont think it runs but the history makes it a unique
piece to save..)

I'll bet I flew that truck around some! Or at least my Squadron did.
That was Fleet Logistics Squadron Twenty Two "Med Riders",flying C-130
and KC-130 Hercules home ported at NAS Rota Spain before, during and
after Desert Storm. (at least until May 93 when the politicians closed
us down!)

In addition to carring mail, parts and people and providing a jump
platform for the guys in khaki shorts and flippers, and in-flight
refueling the fighters for the "no fly zone". (Damn! you guys got your
tax dollars worth out of my squadron!) We also delivered EOD, SEALS
and guys who drove cammo'd MVs but wore civvies etc.etc.

Anyway, a bit off topic, but worth tacking onto the history of the
vehicle.
