[MV] Where is temp sender on Ford flatheads??

My Mk1 carrier uses the Ford flathead V-8. I have a replacement moter
from a 42 CMP F-15 which used the 95hp motor over the Carrier 85hp.

I contacted a specialty shop from Hemmings Motor News that supplies
gauges and the fellow said the engine water temp gauge was in the
head.

Well, I can't find it!!!!!

I did find a "U" shaped peice of tube attached to a 2 pin electrical
connector inside one of the rubber water tubes that run from the left,
lower side of the engine to the radiator. Is this the sender?? I have
seen numerous "Bulb" type senders connected to the gauge by the tube,
but never an electrical one.

My manuals for the carrier do not show the sender in any of the
illustrations. (actually, my manual is missing pages)

OK you Ford Freaks, If this isn't the sending unit, just where do I
look (and what does the sender look like) on my '42 95hp flathead V-8?

Cheers,
Jim
