Not to be overly simplistic, but JP-8 is of course jet fuel. Very
similar to kerosene I've been told, but made to a higher standard. I'm
sure it has a very predictable vapor pressure so things don't go wrong
when the atmospheric pressure gets low, like at 40K feet!

K1 Kerosene is simply water clear kerosene made to burn very cleanly in
a heater. I doubt that they care a whole lot about vapor pressure
consistency. It burns much cleaner in my torpedo heaters than #2 diesel!

#1 Diesel is of course for diesel engines and it a lot lighter, lower
viscosity (shorter molecule chains on average) than #2. Recommended for
cold weather use when you don't want to heavy molecules bonding together
and forming paraffin was in the fuel. I've haven't seen this stuff for
sale for quote a while.

#2 Diesel is standard diesel fuel. This stuff can get sort of thick in
cold weather. I had a can of it and dumped it out when it was below 10F
and the wax separation was quite noticeable. Must really gum up fuel
filters on semis in cold weather. I know that a lot of trucks have fuel
heaters to get around this problem.

There are all kinds of measure of these fuels, average viscosity,
clarity, etc. But this is how I differentiate them.
