[MV] Importation Ban???

I am going to ask the same question that I ask anybody who's
responsiblity it is to enforce a law or regulation. Has anyone seen
the written text of this "Import Ban Order" from a genuine source
responsible for enforcement of the order?

In my line of work I have the opportunity to ask this question often.
Very often no one can product the documented regulation.

If you are going to write to a Congressman or Legislator regarding
this "regulation", you need to cite the regulation (hopefully with
copy attached). These folks are busy people, they receive lots of
"crank" mail and will quickly disregard that which doesn't seem to
have a reasonable basis in fact.

Laws can be changed and are done so every day. I have participated in
the legislative process a number of times by testifying at legislative
hearings. You must provide the legislative committees and legislators
with facts that are cold and hard. "I want this regulation (being
specific) changed in this fashion (again being specific)". You never
present a legislator with a blanket unfocused request. Always present
them with the old text, a copy of the new text the way you want it to
read, with the reasons why it should read that way.

Sorry for the preaching on Politics 101. Remember, this is our
country and the legislators will respond if treated with respect and
given good solid reasons on why something should be different, and how
it can be changed. Without the text of the "Import Ban Order" we are
only beating our gums and alienating those legislators who could
assist us in making the positive change.
