Dear Bill and others............

Not strictly true............... I have two plastic, 5-gallon water cans, in
a pink-sand colour, presumably for desert area use. The cans have the
following information moulded in the sides:-

US
Water
1987
Bronson
USA

And the "X" shape is pressed into both sides. The lid opening is big enough
to get your hand inside for cleaning, (screw-thread fitting) and the lid
itself has a small, screw-ventilator cap. All parts are in this
pink-sand-coloured plastic. I understand that plastic cans sometimes came
with a fibre-pile "jacket" for use in below-zero areas.
