I have a '52 GMC M211 that I recently restored. I wasn't really concerned
about fuel economy when I decided to buy it. I bought it because I liked the
body style and the engine. I chose to install a freshly rebuilt trany just
for dependability. My fuel economy is about 5mpg. The gas engine is simple
and inexpensive to work on and parts are readily available. While I had the
head off for a valve job I had hardened valve seats installed for the
unleaded fuel.

This truck is mainly used for parades and club events. I don't hesitate to
drive it two hours two a show somewhere since it's been very dependable.

Buy a truck because you like it and are comfortable driving it. Unless you
plan on using it as a daily driver also, don't be too concerned about the
fuel economy.

I have used my M211 to tow another M211 that my brother in law bought. It's a
heavy load but it towed fine using a military tow bar. The M211/M135's are
rated at 2-1/2 ton off road and 5 ton on the highway. Other than the air
system, the maintenance is basically the same as most other MV's.
