Just in case there are MV owners who are not familier with how the military
can get away with moving their MVs hither and yon, the military protocol is
to dismount all weapons systems (TOW-2Bs, M2s, M60s, M279s,M247s, machine
guns, etc.), or secure them in their cradles in the case of large bore
weapons systems until they reach the excercise site.

As my father, a deputy sheriff (who, by the way, wouldn't mind owning a
tank), shares the same concerns as any law enforcement official who might
have to face down an idiot in a tank. He would prefer if we, the
responsible MV owning community, dismount or lock down in trail (transport)
configuration our supplementary weapons systems (replicas, non-firing,
whatever) until we are at event sites. He assures me that there could
possibly be a "shoot first, ask questions later scenario", and he doesn't
want to see law abiding private citizens who happen to own armor getting
mixed up in such a nasty situation.

It's probably stating the obvious, but it's sometimes a good reminder, for
those who may have other things on their minds.

Bill
