[MV] who made Mighty Mite engine

Yesterday at a car show a gentleman told me that the engine in the
Mighty Mite was foreign made. He stated that there was congressional
hearing on having an import engine in the Mighty Mite. Does any one know
who really made the engine,and was there a congressional hearing?
