Mark,
Lets go back to when the Jeep shut down. What was the sequence of
trouble shooting the ignition system that you took? Did you pull the coil
wire out of the distributor cap and hold it close to the engine block to see
if you had spark? If you had spark there, did you then remove a plug wire
and hold it close to the block and then the plug (ignition on while some-
one is turning the engine over via starter)? Condensers break down, too.
I'd say a bad condenser could be the culprit, as I've had the same problem.
Results of the above tests would help me diagnose your problem.
