The spark is blue/white and very bright.

The wire from the coil to the points is much smaller than any of the other
wires in the area; it looks like someone just stuck some light guage stuff
in just to have something there. I'm guessing this is causing the heat
build-up/shorting problem. That's the next thing I will change. I'll keep
you posted.
