First off, Happy Birthday (belatedly) Mike (and to the rest of us li'l
amphibious monsters).

I have shown reasonable restraint on the subject of the MVPA. I spoke out
when it looked like something fishy was going on with parlimentary
procedures and arbitrary activities in the headshed. I have waited and
watched as the questions regarding the leadership of the MVPA were run up
the flagpole, and, as usual, once the smoke drifted away, I saw that things
weren't quite as bad as originally thought.

I can understand Lee Holland's desire not to answer to every little petty
personal affront that appears on this list. After all, for the
dissemination of contact and technical information, this forum is
absolutely magnificent, but as a political forum, it's got about as much
weight as shipboard scuttlebutt or field day griping.

What I would suggest to the MVPA, however, because for some of us this is
our only contact with other members, is a once or twice monthly post on the
list letting us know what is going on in the fight in Washington. We, as
the members of the list, must understand that this posting would not be
open to debate via the list, but that all other conventional means are
still available for CONSTRUCTIVE critisism and suggestions.

I want to help maintain the hobby of MV ownership. Some day (very soon,
actually) my kids and their friends are going to see my MVs, and this, in
turn, will spur them to ask questions. As I have done in the past, I will
teach them about our glorious past (something the schools don't seem to
want to do these days, too violent, I suppose, and all of those icky sweaty
men with guns -- eeuuwwww! (Did I mention Happy Birthday to the USMC
already?)). I think that we all should reorient the guns (figuratively) in
the same, unified direction, and get this issue resolved.

Bottom line: I think if the MVPA were to exploit this electronic medium,
it would do much to firm up the solidarity of the members in an effective
and proper direction.

Okay, I'll get back in my hole now, have a good day!
