Lars, thanks for the clarificsation. I knew about the
German-Soviet Pact, but assumed that the full seizing of a plant
an its tooling was somewhat outside of the purview on an
"exchange of technology"... And given the change of heart of
Hitler towards the Soviets, it's conceivable that retaliation
was the order of th4 day in 1945... As far as I know the M72 was
manufactured starting in 1946, not during the war, but I might
be wrong...
I would be interested in contacting these shops in Germany,
since the internals of this engine are very similar to the
internals of my XA's, as I could check from drawings kindly
forwarded to me by Tim Conover in China. Especially oil seals,
clutch springs, and ref numbers for Mahle pistons. Can you
please post their whereabouts here, it might interest other
listees too..
