[MV] grease fittings

Hi List,
When I was putting grease in the rear axle fitting behind the
brake drum backing plate I noticed a fitting (plug) on top of the
axle and I would like to know what it is for?? Should I loosen it
up when I grease axle so as to let extra grease out and not go
on the brake shoes in side of drum.
