My friend Lewis Cearley worked in WWII as an electronics
man. He worked with everything from the magnetic amplifiers
that ran the turret motors on big guns to the radar
altimiters in fighters. He is the owner of Nortex
Electronics, a large surplus store with all kinds of stuff
like transformers, tubes, and ceramic insulators, etc.. as
well as test gear and the like. He is in his 80's and going
to retire soon. When he does the store will go, the lot
probably sold to the highest bidder.. I do listen to his
stories every time I get the chance, I am always amazed how
much he knows about all kinds of things.
