One more thing about jumping batteries, and this applies to all vehicles,
not just milvehs:

If the jumpee is very dead, it will take a while to get its battery up to a
point where it can assist in the jumping operation. It is best to let the
jumper charge the jumpee for a few minutes, with engine running, before
trying anything. Then TURN OFF the jumper's engine, and if possible, isolate
the internal circuitry of the jumper by turning off the main switch if so
equipped. Then try to start the jumpee. This method prevents any transients
or shorts or heavy loads from getting back into the jumper's electrical
system.
