Thanks for the update.

That sucks!! It sounds like more than a stuck valve since you are smoking and
hearing tapping noises.

When I first started messing with my 6.2, I was totally missing compresison in
one cylinder (on driver's side). I read a trick to check compression by
pressurizing the cylinder by blowing compressed air into the cylinder through
the glow plug hole. That and WD-40 down the intake and exhause ports did the
trick. I regained my missing compression and have been running fine ever
since. I guess I just had a sticky valve.
