Kaiser/Jeep made M35A2s from about 1966 to 1969. In 1970 the were made by
General Products Division of AMC. In '71 G.P. became a separate corp called
AM General and this name has been retained since then. I don't have a brake
down of years vs VINs but there are ways to sometimes tell the year. In '69
they went to an air controlled front axle. In '70 they added a shock drivers
seat. Look at the engine data plate. Sometimes the year is on there (applies
if its the original motor). If the year is not stamped overtly there look for
government contract numbers on the eng and dash data plates. The last two
digits of the year of the contract is hyphenated near the middle of the
contract number. The year of the contract is usually the year of the truck
but sometimes the previous year. Also for several years the last two digits
of the registration number were the last two digits of the year of
manufacture. Hope this helps.
