I have heard that the Allison transmission in the M939 series trucks was designed to handle the torque created by the NHC250 (and the other newer Cummins engine). I assume turning the 250 into a 350 will increase the torque, thereby exceeding the capacities of the transmission. I am not sure, but would assume the manual transmission in the M809 series trucks could handle this. However, a friend of mine is a former Marine who worked in their motor pool. He told me that they turned up the fuel on their M809 series trucks in Desert Storm. He also said that they twisted a few drive lines. You (and I am sure others) have more hands-on practical experience (e.g., actual military experience) than I do. I defer to your and other people's judgement. Just thought I'd mention what I heard...
